Audience Building

Mar 29 2021

In the last 3 years, I have published two separate books. A children's book, and an EBook all about getting your first job as a Software Developer. You can see each in the "Bookshelf" area of this site.

I've been proud of each release but both have fell flat when I have published them. A goal I have for myself is of become more of a "Creator". I want to build and write things that people enjoy and that they find value in.

Unfortunately, I don't have an audience. Not yet anyway. I have a strong background in building products and mentoring developers but I am not an authority in the public space. So something I'd like to work on this year is building more of a presence for myself online.

As of today I have 85 followers on Twitter. My goal is to grow that to 1000 followers by the end of the year.

You don't get something for nothing, so here is what I'm going to do to reach that goal.

- Tweet 5x a week

- Continue writing blog posts (here and on Medium)

- Share my best work on Indie Hackers, Hacker News, Reddit, Instagram, and Facebook

- Reply/Comment on other people's work every day.

I'm going to check in here at some point in the future and see how far I have come.

This post is mostly to hold myself accountable. Ready, Set, Go.
